Advantages of Dental Microscopes in Digital Workflow; Full Mouth Rehabilitation. Part 2

Assoc. Professor Marko Jakovac

Assoc. Professor Marko Jakovac, DMD, MSc, PhD

Today aesthetic dentistry is not only about appearance but also about function and functional durability. For functional durability the knowledge about materials and precision of clinical and laboratory work are essential. The clinical part therefore is more demanding for the clinicians especially if we are using minimal invasive approach. Optical devices and digital scanners are helpful for clinicians to achieve that goal. Dental microscope has benefits for clinicians not only because enlargement and documentation but also because ergonomics. If we combine with dental microscopes modern CAD-CAM units in-office or in combination with dental laboratory we can achieve optimal marginal fit, occlusal precision and aesthetics even in full mouth rehabilitation.
The presentation will show advantages of dental microscope and fully digital protocol in minimal invasive therapy.

The power of 7

Martine Wright

Martine Wright

Martine Wright is a survivor of the never to be forgotten day in 2005 when terror hit the streets of London. As 52 people lost their lives in a series of attacks across London, she was the last survivor pulled from the train in Aldgate, losing her legs, and very nearly her life. The events of 7/7 are one bookend of her life in which her remarkable fight for recovery and rehabilitation culminated in becoming a Team GB Paralympian, appearing at London 2012.

In tribute to those that died that day Martine chose to wear the number & team shirt, and will share with you how she developed and adopted her mantra of the ‘Power of 7’ to provide resilience, positivity, structure and new purpose into her much-changed world. Her compelling story of survival to sporting endeavour and her easy and refreshingly honest approach will provide inspiration and key pointers to your team.

Pitfalls and failures in diagnosis and treatment planning – the merits of CBCT

Angelo Troedhan

Dr Angelo Troedhan

Depicting the individual patient´s anatomy only in two dimensions bears high risks of misdiagnosis and consecutive unpleasant “surprises” during surgical execution and possible failure of the planned implant- and prosthetic treatment. Overseen pathologies and anatomic variations lead to high failure rates of GBR-surgery and in implant therapy as well as unnecessary highly invasive GBR-procedures in the maxillary and mandibular alveolar crest.

Contrary, the non-invasive digital workflow based on 3D-imaging allows precise diagnosis and prevents possible failure already in the planning phase of the treatment by “backward-planning” and simulation of the entire treatment choosing the least invasive and most safe biology-based Piezotome-surgical procedures.

Furthermore, most recent CBCT-devices even allow a precise determination of the individual patient´s bone quality to determine how many implants will be needed due to the patient’s individual bone-density and -volume and if immediate loading might be possible in each individual case.

The lecture will provide a short basic evidence-based revision of current knowledge of radiographic anatomy followed by a comparison of erroneous 2D versus precise 3D CBCT-based diagnosis, treatment-planning and execution demonstrated in GBR- and implant-therapy case reports.

DenGro is an industry leader in lead management, sales and communication techniques for dental and wellbeing businesses.

In their session on the power of social media marketing, DenGro’s Marketing Manager, Sara King, will look at the ins and outs of social media platforms and how practices can harness the power of these networks to develop their audiences, improve their marketing strategy, and ultimately grow their business.

With a focus on an integrated marketing strategy, DenGro helps practice teams to improve their internal processes and approaches to lead management in order to increase treatment uptake and grow the practice.

Through the use of a simple, interactive to-do list of daily tasks, DenGro helps practice teams to better organise their time and the way that they contact and follow-up with leads. Meanwhile, the automated sequences of pre-written emails and SMS help practices stay connected with their leads.

Backed by years of experience in dental and well-being marketing and a deep understanding of the industry, DenGro provides support, training, and guidance to practices looking to grow their business.

Corporate Social Responsibility

Mark Topley

Mark Topley

The CSR Advantage addresses your business’ next big challenge and how to turn it to an opportunity.
You can’t ignore the fact that society is becoming more critical of businesses that fail to ‘act responsibly’.
Patients and staff are looking at you for the hallmarks of a trustworthy business – positive work culture, environmental responsibility and a role in the community and with charities.

Whether you consider yourself ‘charitable’ or not, you cannot argue with the numbers – 88% of consumers now expect social and environmental responsibility as an integral part of every business – no matter how big or small.

But far from being yet another challenge to overcome, your Corporate Social Responsibility is actually something that you can turn into an advantage. Building a purpose driven, engaged team and a stellar reputation. Mark Topley will explain how, as well as showing you the simple, practical steps you can take, no matter your starting point.

Learning Objectives
During the presentation, attendees will learn:

  • What CSR is, and the five areas of impact – People, Charity, Community, Environment, Communications
  • Why CSR is important for patients and potential patients looking for a dentist they can trust
  • Why it’s important for attracting and retaining high quality, purpose driven people, especially those under 35
  • How to cover all the areas of CSR without having to become an expert in a quick, simple and effective way that takes the thinking off your desk

The presentation links closely to the ‘well led’ Key Lines Of Enquiry for CQC – setting culture, strong leadership, an engaged team etc. For ECPD, it sits firmly in Development Outcome B.
